We ask the question, but do we sit with the answer?
Jesus didn't walk this earth to build institutions or draw dividing lines. He walked it to remind us of something we already knew — something buried beneath the noise of the world. Here's what I believe Jesus would do if He walked among us today.
He would love unconditionally. Not the love that comes with terms and conditions. Not the love that requires you to earn it, perform for it, or look a certain way to receive it. Radical, unfiltered, no-exceptions love — for the addict, the outcast, the misunderstood, the ones society has written off. That kind of love is still revolutionary today.
He would teach that the Kingdom of Heaven is within you. Not in a building. Not behind a doctrine. Not reserved for the afterlife. Within you. Right now. This moment. Jesus understood what quantum physics is only beginning to confirm — that we are not separate from the Source that created us. You are not a human being having a spiritual experience. You are a spiritual being having a human experience.
He would teach forgiveness as medicine. Not for the person who wronged you — for you. Unforgiveness is a poison we drink hoping someone else gets sick. Jesus knew that releasing others from the prison of our judgment is how we free ourselves. In today's world of cancel culture and endless grievance, forgiveness might be the most radical act of all.
He would teach compassion without conditions. For the homeless man on the corner. For the person whose politics you despise. For the animal, the earth, the stranger. Compassion isn't agreement — it's the recognition that every living thing is carrying something heavy, and that your kindness costs you nothing but means everything.
He would teach the power of gratitude. Before the miracle of the loaves and fishes, Jesus gave thanks. Before the resurrection, there was surrender and trust. Gratitude isn't a reaction to good things happening — it's the frequency that calls good things in. In a world addicted to lack and complaint, gratitude is a spiritual discipline and a superpower.
He would teach that healing begins in the mind. "As a man thinketh, so is he." Jesus consistently pointed people back to their own belief — your faith has made you whole. Not His power alone, but the alignment of the person's own mind with the truth of their wholeness. Today He might say: watch what you consume, what you tell yourself, what you agree with about who you are.
He would sit with the outcasts. Not the powerful. Not the influential. He'd be at the table with the ones nobody else wants to sit with — the addicted, the broken, the ones who've made the worst mistakes. He wouldn't post about it. He'd just show up.
He would challenge corrupt systems — peacefully. Jesus flipped tables in the temple. He wasn't passive in the face of exploitation. Today He'd speak truth to power — to systems that profit from suffering, to institutions that use His name to divide rather than unite. He'd do it without hatred, but He would not be silent.
He would remind us: we are one. Every wall we build between us — race, religion, class, nation — He would dismantle with a single question: who is your neighbor? The answer, as He always taught, is everyone.
